The Salem City Cyber Crime police registered a case against BJP state president K. Annamalai and senior leader H. Raja on Monday.

On February 20, V. Piyush, a resident of YCC Road near Yercaud Foothills, sent a complaint through e-mail to the Salem City Police alleging that the two BJP leaders insisted that the whole Thiruparankundram hillock in Madurai district belonged to Lord Murugan and called for the removal of the dargah. The statement, the complaint said, twisted the narrative against Muslims by projecting them as encroachers of the hillock. The complainant also demanded that an FIR be filed against the two BJP leaders.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Salem City Cyber Crime Police registered a case against the two BJP leaders and are investigating further. Police sources said a case was registered under three sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the two BJP leaders.
