Accredited Social Health Activist Workers (ASHA) on Monday staged a protest at Dindigul Collectorate pressing for a charter of demands including salary hike.

ASHA workers, led by district secretary Pitchaiammal and convenor P. Selvi, said that the workers should be regularised and be given a monthly salary of ₹26,000. Those who had completed 10 years in service should be posted in the cadre of Health Nurse, they said.

They said that the ASHA workers were made to work overtime. This should be stopped and the workers should be treated properly. The workers should be given better incentives. Gratuity, PF and ESI should be implemented for the workers, they said and urged the Central government to release the funds.
