Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said there can be no place for those "who hated India and Indianness" and "one who cannot respect the great men and freedom fighters of the country".
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Bithoor Mahotsava in Kanpur on Sunday, the CM said, "Those who were invaders, attacked India's beliefs, hated India and Indianness, dishonoured Indian daughters, and tried to crush the eternal culture can never be ideals of this nation."
He further criticized individuals, who idolize foreign invaders, urging them to reconsider their stance.
The CM highlighted a statement made by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during the country's Republic Day parade, which he believes is an eye-opener.
"The president of Indonesia says that if our DNA is ever tested, it will turn out to be Indian. Indonesia is the largest Muslim majority country in the world and this statement of his is an eye-opener for those who consider foreign invaders as their ideal in India," he said.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for restoring the Ganga's continuous, clean flow through the Namami Gange project, noting this achievement fulfilled the Kumbh's vision. The CM said, "Today, I can say that the dream seen by Prime Minister Modi in 2014 is exemplified by the success of the Kumbh."
He observed that despite the Ganga Action Plan's establishment in 1986, river pollution increased until 2014. Now, aquatic life and dolphins have returned to the Ganga. Criticising the opposition, CM Yogi said they destroyed Kanpur's industries, causing unemployment and disorder. He noted Kanpur's decline from its position amongst India's top four cities, saying, "The city was deprived of connectivity, and Mother Ganga was polluted. The airport was closed." He remarked that if all this could happen to Kanpur, one can only imagine what they did to the country. He added that whilst the British departed, they left successors to exploit India.
He highlighted Kanpur's transformation over the past decade, emerging as a 'New India' metropolis balancing heritage and progress. "It is set to become a new hub for ready-made garments. The construction of the Outer Ring Road, Ganga Expressway, and Kanpur-Lucknow Corridor will commence soon," he announced. Regarding urban development, he said, "The second phase of the metro will start soon."
CM Yogi Adityanath said, "An exhibition of weapons is being held in Bithoor Mahotsava in Kanpur, and you all must see it. These weapons are symbols of our heritage, thanks to which Rani Lakshmibai defeated the British, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj routed the Mughals." He emphasised that these weapons represent our heritage and identity, affirming his govt's dedication to enhancing the legacy of great personalities.
He described Bithoor as the land of revolutionaries and Indian heroes, and added, "UP is now rapidly advancing; this is the new Uttar Pradesh of new India."
