Transforming city into artistic hub by fostering talents

Guwahati: With a strong conviction that dreams can materialise when supported, ‘Kalasamanya', a city-based social organisation, focuses on developing artistic talents.
The organisation delivers fundamental training in art, culture, literature and visual art, while providing opportunities for learners to display their abilities. It empowers art enthusiasts through workshops, exhibitions and cultural programmes.
Sushanta Choudhary, employed at a private school, serves as the general secretary of the organisation. Together with other enthusiasts keen on supporting local talent, he established it in Aug last year. "Many artists in our town have talent but lack the resources and exposure needed to reach their full potential. Our goal is to bridge that gap by equipping them with the right skills and opportunities," said Choudhary.
Beyond offering a platform for emerging artists, Choudhary emphasises their dedication to developing local talent and highlighting the city's artistic capabilities.
"There is often a prevailing notion that artists must migrate to metropolitan cities to pursue their dreams, as these urban centers offer broader opportunities and exposure. However, we aim to challenge this perspective by fostering a thriving artistic ecosystem right here. Our vision is to transform the city into a dynamic hub for emerging artists, one where they can grow, gain recognition, and stay true to their cultural roots without feeling the need to relocate. We want to prove that creativity and artistic success are not confined to big cities but can flourish in every corner, provided the right support and platforms are in place," he said.
He noted the organisation's swift impact on the local art community, evidenced by numerous successful events and an expanding network of devoted artists. "We have no age bar among the people. The artists can be both young and old. It is just the passion in them, which we value and focus upon," he said.
The organisation aims to broaden its influence, partner with distinguished artists, and facilitate national and international exposure for its members. It continues to establish an inclusive and dynamic cultural movement within the city for individuals seeking to enhance their artistic abilities and connect with fellow creatives.
