9-year-old girl found dead in Churachandpur

Guwahati: A nine-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious conditions in Manipur's Churachandpur late Thursday night.
Police said the girl had been missing from 6 pm on Thursday. She was found dead at Lanva TD Block at 11.30 pm.
"Her body is being kept at the district hospital for post mortem and legal procedures and investigation is on," police said.
Former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh condemned the killing of Mandeihkim and wrote on X, "This senseless act is a grave crime against humanity, and I urge the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay." The Zomi Mothers' Association has issued a strong condemnation of the incident, classifying it as a "murder" and it "smelt a rat at the circumstances leading to the tragic and sudden death" of the girl.
The association has urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend those responsible. tnn
