New Delhi – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded the alarm as a dynamic shift in weather patterns sweeps across the nation, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and plunging temperatures to several states. From the northern plains of Uttar Pradesh to the southern reaches of Tamil Nadu, the monsoon’s influence is intensifying, with warnings of heavy rainfall and potential disruptions issued for the coming days. Snowfall in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh has already driven a sharp drop in temperatures, while a fresh western disturbance promises cloudy skies and showers elsewhere.
Uttar Pradesh Braces for Widespread Rainfall
The IMD forecasts a wet spell across Uttar Pradesh, with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely to batter districts such as Unnao, Barabanki, Hardoi, Bahraich, Gonda, Rae Bareli, and Amethi. Eastern regions like Etawah, Ayodhya, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Basti are also on high alert, with life expected to grind to a halt under relentless downpours. Further west, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Sitapur, Balrampur, Shravasti, Mainpuri, Sultanpur, and Ambedkar Nagar face similar threats. Gorakhpur, Kannauj, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, and Ghaziabad are set for intense rain, while Meerut, Baghpat, and Muzaffarnagar could see hailstorms alongside downpours.
Rajasthan Under Cloud Cover
A new western disturbance has activated over Rajasthan, triggering cloud movement and light rain across Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. The IMD predicts scattered showers with thunderstorms, urging residents to stay vigilant as the weather turns turbulent.
Bihar Faces Rain and Temperature Drop
In Bihar, the IMD has flagged Aurangabad, Patna, Bhabua, Rohtas, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, and Banka for rain warnings. Post-shower, maximum temperatures are expected to dip by 2-4°C, offering respite from recent warmth but raising concerns over local impacts.
Southeastern States on High Alert
Heavy rainfall is forecast for Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh from March 21 to 24, with cloudy skies dominating Maharashtra and Telangana. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka are slated for showers on March 22 and 23, signaling a widespread monsoon surge. Stay updated with IMD advisories as the weather unfolds.
