GAG report points out irregularities in kidney allotment: Cong
Ahmedabad: Quoting details from a comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India report acquired through an RTI application, the Congress on Thursday alleged serious irregularities in the allocation of kidneys to patients. The party demanded an inquiry into the matter.
Addressing the media, party spokesperson Parthivrajsinh Kathavadia said, "The CAG report provided shocking details of serious irregularities in govt-aided IKRDC hospital. The SOTTO waiting list for kidney allocation included names of deceased individuals, those who received previous transplants and patients from private hospitals other than IKDRC."
"In the CAG observation, a letter was written by a kidney specialist stating that due to discrepancies in the waiting list from June 2022 to Dec 2023, over 250 patients were excluded from the kidney allocation waiting list," Kathavadia alleged. He added that the CAG report, which is not yet tabled in the assembly, also states that a doctor from the kidney hospital alleged that two foreign patients were allocated kidneys "improperly".
