New Delhi: Families and fitness enthusiasts across India will take over city streets on March 23 as TOI brings its "Happy Streets" event to multiple locations simultaneously for the first time.
Timed to commemorate International Day of Happiness, the initiative will transform select roads into traffic-free zones from 6.30am to 10 am, encouraging residents to engage in outdoor activities, music, and social interactions.
Over the past few years, Happy Streets has drawn more than 150,000 participants across 250 locations nationwide. Typically held in individual cities at different times, this year's special edition will see multiple cities celebrating together in a unified movement promoting health, happiness, and community engagement.
Participants can look forward to a range of activities, including dance-offs, cycling sprints, yoga sessions, and badminton games. Each city will curate its own mix of experiences, ensuring a diverse and exciting atmosphere for attendees of all ages.
The idea is to create a space where people can step outside, get active, and enjoy a morning free from traffic and honking.
The event is free and open to all. Residents are encouraged to set aside their usual Sunday routines, lace up their sneakers, and embrace the spirit of community as streets across the country turn into hubs of joy and activity.
