Gurgaon: An accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Hirwadi in Nuh resulted in the death of a container truck driver when his vehicle collided with a stationary truck in the early hours of March 17.
Vikram Singh (34) from Shivpuri in MP died on the spot while the driver of the stationary truck fled the spot. Police registered a fatal road accident case, and they have yet to identify the accused.
According to Ferozpur Jhirka police, Singh was on his way to transport goods to Delhi from Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur when, around 2am, he crashed into a truck parked illegally on the expressway without indicator lights.
"Due to the high-speed collision, the truck cabin that Singh was in got severely damaged, and he was trapped in the wreckage. Our team took him out of the mangled truck, but he succumbed to severe injuries on the spot," Ferozpur Jhirka ASI Yogender said.
He added the body was handed over to the victim's family on Monday evening after an autopsy at Al Afia Hospital civil hospital in Mandikhera.
The victim's cousin, Ajit Singh, filed a police complaint. A case was registered against the unidentified truck driver on Monday under sections 106 (causing death due to negligence) and 285 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the BNS.
"There were no CCTV cameras at the spot, but we are verifying the footage from nearby areas to identify and arrest the accused as soon as possible," the ASI said.
