Nayara Energy signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government which includes an agreement for providing financial aid for the conservation and restoration work at Khijadia Bird Sanctuary — a Ramsar Site — in Jamnagar district of the state.
This MoU with the forest department includes an aide of ₹12 crore which will be spent over a three years to improve the ecological conditions of the wetlands, enhance biodiversity and promote participation of local stakeholders in wetland management and related activities. This project also includes promotion of ecotourism activities, conservation related infrastructure development and capacity building.
The second MoU was signed with Vidya Samiksha Kendra of the education department of the State government. Under this agreement, the company will provide 3.75 lakh books for children in 1,300 government-run anganwadis in Jamnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts. This initiative will also leverage the digital platform to enhance access to digital reading materials and infrastructure. Teachers will also be trained in library management and to use open source digital libraries and incorporate digital reading tools into classroom learning.
