The headmistress of the Kalipalayam Primary School in Thanthoni Panchayat Union in the district has been suspended after a clip showing girls cleaning the toilets of the school went viral. Acting on a complaint, the Chief Educational Officer deputed a senior official of the School Education Department to conduct an enquiry into the complaint. He visited the school and recorded statements from the students, teachers, and Poonkodi, the headmistress. Based on the preliminary report, the CEO issued orders placing Poonkodi under suspension.
