Sambalpur: State vigilance on Monday arrested Dhruba Charan Sahu, a clerk-cum-accountant of Lakhanpur Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in Bargarh district, for allegedly embezzling public funds amounting to Rs 31.48 lakh.
According to a vigilance statement, Sahu misused his official position by failing to deposit loan repayment amounts collected from the public. He allegedly manipulated the society's day book by showing a lower closing balance during the 2019-20 financial year to cover up the misappropriation.
A case has been registered against Sahu at the Sambalpur Vigilance police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
