Class VI boy drowns in lake near Hosur

Krishnagiri: A Class VI student drowned while bathing at a lake near Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as P Harshith,12, of Pathalapalli.
Harshith and his friends, all students from a government school in Pathalapalli village, had gone to the Moranapalli lake to bathe. "When the boys ventured deep into the lake, Harshith got stuck in the mud and drowned," said a police officer from Hudco station.
Locals alerted the police who arrived at the scene along with fire and rescue personnel from the Hosur fire station. Harshith's body was recovered after a hour-long search and sent to the government hospital in Hosur for a postmortem.
Hudco police have registered a case and are investigating.
