Couple dies after rear-ended car flies over divider, hits bus
Ahmedabad: A husband and wife were killed after a speeding car hit their vehicle from behind. This caused the car to fly over the divider and hit a a bus of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation driving down the opposite lane.
The driver of the GSRTC, Kiransinh Jadeja, registered a complaint with Dehgam police on Friday against Dishant Patel, a resident of Sonarda, under BNS Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 281 (rash driving), and 324(4) (mischief).
In the complaint, the driver stated that he was travelling from Shamlaji to Ahmedabad when, on the Dahegam-Naroda highway, a white hatchback car was coming from the Naroda side, followed by a red car whose driver was driving rashly.
"The driver of the red car, unable to control the vehicle, hit the rear of the hatchback car, causing it to jump the divider and collide with the front of our bus. We stopped the bus, and the red car lost control, hitting two other four-wheelers that were parked on the roadside," the complainant stated.
Jadeja, in the complaint, stated that the bus also reported damage while Naresh Thakore and Jamna Thakore, the couple in the hatchback car, were extricated from the car but were declared dead by the 108 emergency service staff.
"The driver of the red car, who appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol, identified himself as Dishant Patel from Sonarda," the complainant mentioned in the FIR.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Dehgam govt hospital. The others went to the Dehgam police station and lodged a complaint against Patel.
