The police have filed a case against a man at Edakkulam near Kalpakanchery following a complaint by his wife for assault and allegedly delivering talaq or divorce through telephone.
Shahul Hameed, against whom the case has been filed, however, denied the talaq allegation. He said he had not delivered talaq, instead, he told his wife that he could not continue the relation with her.
The police said they were investigating the allegations of assault and talaq over phone. The woman’s complaint said that Shahul Hameed had assaulted her several times demanding dowry.
The couple had got married in 2021. The woman from Naduvattom said in her complaint that she was deserted by Shahul Hameed and that “the words of divorce” were uttered through the telephone. The police said they were investigating.
