Kalaburagi: Medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil stated that while there might be involvement of a Union minister in the Ranya gold smuggling case, no state minister is involved. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he emphasised that airports come under the central govt's jurisdiction — and not under the state's purview — suggesting the possibility of any Union minister's involvement. He noted that BJP leaders might have referred to a Union minister's involvement rather than those from Karnataka. Speaking on the two deaths reported at GIMS, he said an investigation would be conducted, and those found guilty would face disciplinary action.
