Harassed by cyber criminals, constable’s daughter ends life

Kanpur: A police constable's daughter committed suicide after being harassed by cyber criminals in the Kalyanpur police area of the city on Friday.
The perpetrators had manipulated a video of the student, who was pursuing a B.P.Ed at a university, made it inappropriate and shared it with two family members. They contacted her father with false allegations about her consuming alcohol and smoking near her college, demanding Rs 50,000 to delete the video. The girl, distressed by these communications and the video, ended her life.
The police performed a post-mortem examination on Saturday and handed over the body to the family. The father said that he had reported the incident to the Kalyanpur police, but they failed to respond.
ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Kumar Pandey said the matter is being investigated. "We are in the process of zeroing in on the perpetrators, they will be brought to book soon," said ACP further.
