Man paraded naked, beaten over extramarital affair

Palanpur: A man in this mid-thirties was beaten and paraded naked in a village of Sabarkantha district, allegedly by the husband and relatives of a woman with whom he reportedly had an affair.
The police arrested seven people out of the 12 named in the complaint lodged by the victim, Sabarkantha superintendent of police (DSP) Vijay Patel told TOI.
The incident occurred in Chadasana village of Idar taluka on the night of March 11 after the accused abducted the victim from a cold storage facility.
The video of the humiliating treatment meted out to the man started circulation on social media.
The victim,who is also married, was left off only after being forced to give a written apology. They also looted his mobile. He was hospitalized but claimed he had fallen from staircase.
Patel said, "We launched an investigation after receiving the video and traced the victim on Wednesday. Three teams of police have been formed to nab the accused."
"Based on the viral video, an FIR was registered against the woman's husband and relatives. The victim was abducted from his house in Idar town, 20km from the district headquarters Himatnagar, beaten and paraded naked. They allowed the victim go only after making him sign an apology letter," Patel said.
The accused have been charged with abduction, assault and other offences under BNS and the SC/SC (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
