The Hindupur police on Thursday (March 13) night rescued a woman from West Bengal, believed to be suffering from a mental disorder, and reunited her with her husband.

Sri Sathya Sai Superintendent of Police V. Ratna told media persons that the middle-aged woman reportedly left her house at a town in Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal on Wednesday, boarded a train bound for Bhubaneswar and then another headed for Bengaluru.

During the travel, she took a co-passenger’s mobile phone and spoke to her relatives. The passenger, suspecting something amiss, called on the same number and managed to inform her husband, who then contacted the West Bengal police.

The Superintendent of Police concerned in West Bengal contacted his counterpart in Sri Sathya Sai District, Ms. Ratna, who formed a special team of the Hindupur police.

The search party received information about a woman on the railway tracks near Hindupur. The police rescued her, brought her to the area police station and informed her husband, who reached Hindupur on Friday afternoon. The woman was then reunited with her husband.
