Man killed after dispute over Holi donation
Lucknow: A 35-year-old man was beaten to death following a dispute over collection of donation for Holika Dahan in Vikasnagar area on Wednesday night.
The deceased, identified as Harish Chandra alias Rohit, was attacked by his cousin and his associate, police said.
According to officials, Harish Chandra, a fruit vendor residing in Gharounda Complex, got into an argument with his cousin Punit Kashyap regarding Holika Dahan contributions. The verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation. Punit, accompanied by his friend Chand Babu, allegedly assaulted Harish.
During the assault, Harish collapsed and fell unconscious. The accused fled immediately after the attack. Family members rushed Harish to a hospital, but he succumbed to injuries on the way.
Station house officer Alok Kumar Singh arrived at the spot with a police force. The body was sent for post-mortem, and efforts are underway to locate the accused. "We are making all efforts to nab the accused," he said.
