Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has set hopes on allocation of funds for several key projects in the supplementary budget of the state govt after these projects failed to find mention in the main budget presented by finance minister Ajit Pawar last week.
A senior PCMC official confirmed that they were expecting the allocation in the state budget. "However, we are hoping that they will be included in the supplementary budget," he said.
The civic body has sought funds for projects like Pavana closed water pipeline project, Pavana river rejuvenation, integrated solid waste management, and the drainage master plan and for the acquisition of land along Pune-Nashik highway for entry and exit points in PCMC limits on the proposed Nashik Phata-Khed elevated corridor.
The civic body sent a revised proposal along with a demand for funds for the Pavana closed water pipeline project which was halted following a stay by the state govt for almost 14 years.
The project cost, estimated at Rs 398 crore, has now increased to Rs 1,050 crore. Once completed, the civic body will be able to save 100 MLD of water for residents with improved quality.
The Pavana river rejuvenation project is likely to cost around Rs 1,345 crore, according to the detailed project report prepared by PCMC.
Besides, a proposal seeking funds for the drainage master plan was also sent to the state govt, which is likely to cost approximately over Rs 1,000 crore.
