Pune: The body of an unidentified man (40) was found dumped in a gunny bag in the Nira river at Sarola village near Bhor, about 45 km from Pune.
Prima facie investigations revealed that someone had strangled the victim and dumped the body into the river. A case of murder was registered.
An officer from the Rajgad police said some local residents noticed a gunny bag in the Nira river near an eatery. They alerted the police immediately. "We found the body of an unidentified man inside the gunny bag. His limbs were tied. We also noticed Om tattooed on his right hand," he added.
He said investigations revealed the man was strangled to death. "We sent the body for post-mortem. Our investigations are on," he added.
