Three-day urs in Chikkamagaluru from March 15
Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru is preparing for the three-day annual urs at the Shri Guru Dattatreya Bababudhan Swami Dargah Inam Dattatreya Peetha. The festival will commence on March 15.
Approximately 7,000 to 8,000 devotees from across the state are expected to attend the event. The district administration has issued an order prohibiting the movement of long chassis and multi-axle vehicles, excluding KSRTC buses, during these days.
Additionally, deputy commissioner CN Meena Nagaraj has ordered restrictions on tourism activities on all three days to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Tourists are restricted from visiting local tourist spots such as Mullayanagiri, Seethalayanagiri, the dargah, Galikere, and Manikyadhara during this period.
Ban orders were issued to prevent inconvenience to the devotees due to the narrow and landslide-affected roads leading to the shrine, as per the communication issued by the DC. The peetha has been a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Muslims for decades.
