Being the son of a superstar doesn’t always guarantee success in the film industry. Well, it does give one a great start, but eventually fame and success come through luck and immense hardwork. Today, we will talk about one such actor, who despite coming from film family couldn’t become a successful actor like his father. He managed to give only 2 hits out of the 21 films he starred in. The actor took a break after starring in a streak of flops. However, last year, he made a successful comeback with a superhit web show released on Netflix.

We are talking about none other than Fardeen Khan, son of superstar Feroz Khan. He was launched by his father in Prem Aggan, as it was his dream to make his son a successful actor one day. Fardeen’s debut film, unfortunately, failed to impress audiences and turned out to be a box office flop.

Following his flop debut, Fardeen starred in 15 films but all of them couldn’t be a success. When his career seemed to be on decline, he starred in Heyy Baby alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani. The film became a blockbuster, grossing Rs 83 crore worldwide. Besides this, he also starred in another superhit called No Entry alongside Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol and Bipasha Basu. After starring in Dulha Mil Gaya in 2010, the actor took a break from acting.

Fardeen stayed away from the world of glam for 14 years. In an interview, the actor spoke about his struggle with depression and the tough times in his life. He said, “Sometimes you slip into depression, you don’t feel positive, things don’t have meaning or purpose but in my experience that is a way you find yourself. I think the treasure lies in that deep dark cave. It’s a constant cycle of death and resurrection. Of course, some days are tough. I sometimes go into a shell. I like to just sit and think about things. People who know me sometimes say I overthink but when I am down I kind of sit and ponder about it for a few days to figure out why exactly I am feeling down. Once I find that, it’s much less challenging to get back to being normal.”

Talking about depression, Fardeen added, “It’s a natural process everyone goes through. We have to safeguard ourselves from this desire to always want to be happy. If there are things that are depressing you, it is actually a signal for you to think about something that is unfulfilled in your life. There’s something that you are not aligned with, there’s something not in sync.”

Last year, Fardeen got back in shape and started his second inning in Bollywood. He made a superhit comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series on Netflix, Heeramandi. Besides Fardeen, the show also features Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Sehgal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman.

Despite his long break from acting, Fardeen still owns a staggering net worth of $40 million (Rs 330 crore). The actor was last seen in Khel Khel Mein, alongside Taapsee Pannu, Akshay Kumar and others.
