Film society raises concerns over violence in cinema

Published - March 10, 2025 06:34 pm IST - MALAPPURAM

Rasmi Film Society here on Monday (March 10) voiced concerns about the growing depiction of violence in films, criticising the cinema for promoting violent tendencies and social ills rather than instilling humanitarian values.

The film society warned that films justifying violence and criminalism would lead society astray. “It’s shocking that many violent crimes that took place in Kerala in recent times were influenced by the films. The Central Board for Film Certification, formerly known as the Censor Board, should make strict interventions,” said poet Manambur Rajanbabu, presiding over a meeting of the Rasmi Film Society here.

Film society secretary Anil Kuruppan presented a report. Treasurer V.M. Suresh Kumar delivered a vote of thanks.
