Man beaten to death in Namakkal

An 85-year-old man was beaten to death on Monday.

K. Murugesan (53), a farmer residing in Nathamedu near Mohanur, sought money from his father Karala Gounder for drinking. When his father refused to give him the money, Murugesan allegedly attacked him with a wooden log. Karala Goundar died of severe injuries at the Namakkal Government Hospital. Mohanur Police registered a case and arrested Murugesan. It is learnt that Murugesan was treated at a de-addiction centre at Dharmapuri for alcoholism recently, but continued drinking after his discharge.
