PVTG community hope for road & water
Gumla: The Korwa community, which is classified as PVTG (particularly vulnerable tribal group) and lives in a remote forested settlement of Harinakhand under Sadar block, lacks basic amenities like electricity and drinking water. But this situation is set to improve shortly.
The settlement comprises 80 members of the Korwa community, with only a few having completed matriculation. Some work outside for livelihood, while many remain excluded from pension and welfare schemes. Additionally, 40 members of the Gope community inhabit a settlement in Harinakhand.
Deputy commissioner Karn Satyarthi informed the locals that a 3.5 km road connecting Harinakhand to Anjan would commence soon. "The road project has been sanctioned, and work will begin soon. A handpump will also be installed," he said.
Budhe Korwa and Mangri Korwa, said, "Now we hope our main grievances regarding road and water will be resolved soon. We have been facing difficulty in commuting due to lack of road." Mangri highlighted woes over lack of water facility. "River here is virtually dry," he said. The PVTG members also highlighted issues regarding electricity and housing. Satyarthi travelled 2.50 km by motorcycle from Anjan village to reach Harinakhand.
The DC also instructed officials to include residents in govt programmes, including Ayushman Bharat and caste certificate issuance. Regarding ration distribution, he directed to ensure doorstep delivery under Dakiya Yojna.
