Jaipur’s women cops who caught criminals & rescued victims are being honoured
Jaipur: The west district unit of the city police will honour five of its women officers this International Women's Day on Saturday for their valiant efforts in the line of duty.
Among those to be honoured is constable Menaka Kumari of Jhotwara police station, who distinguished herself by arresting Bharat Meena, an accused in the sensational Punjab National Bank robbery case, while he was fleeing the scene after firing. DCP (West) Amit Kumar outlined several commendable acts such as Kumar's that set high benchmarks for the police force.
Additional DCP Sulesh Chaudhary recounted how an officer successfully arrested an accused alleged to have raped a minor girl. The officer not only secured the arrest but also arranged for the victim's medical treatment and counselling, ensuring she received immediate care and support.
Constable Manju Kanwar of Cyber Crime Unit of the city police has been recognised for her outstanding performance over the past year. Her efforts include freezing nearly 250 bank accounts, effectively blocking transactions totalling Rs 38 lakh and facilitating refunds amounting to up to Rs 20 lakh. She improved her expertise by completing eight cyber-related courses through NCRB's Cytrain portal, earning eight certificates in the process.
Sub-inspector Nirma of Sadar police station promptly responded to a distress call received by police control room and worked on Rajasthan Police's ‘RajCop Citizen' app. Acting swiftly on the call's exact location details she got, she identified the location and safely rescued a 23-year-old girl put in distress by a stalker. The DCP (west) said Nirma is among those who will be honoured Saturday.
When constable Santosh Kumari of Kardhani police station played a crucial role in the arrest of Nagendra Singh, alias Honey Singh, an armed suspect, knowing fully well the potential threat he posed. She was lauded for her bravery and will be honoured Saturday.
"Police are committed to ensuring the security of society, and it is commendable when female officers and personnel enhance the honour of the police force by their acts of bravery, risk-taking and high professionalism. They raise public trust in police and set higher standards of duty," Kumar said.
