UG student attempts suicide after alleged harassment

Kanpur: Distressed by harassment and misconduct by a village youth, an undergraduate student attempted suicide, in Rath area of Hamirpur district.
According to the victim's brother, who filed a report against the accused at the police station, his sister has been pursuing graduation at a local college.
However, she has been subjected to stalking, harassment, and inappropriate behavior by a local youth, Sandeep Lodhi, on multiple occasions.
Despite opposition, Lodhi continued to harass the victim, using derogatory language and threatening to kill her.
The brother alleged that on Thursday, Lodhi followed his sister and behaved inappropriately again, pushing her to the edge.
The next day, the victim attempted suicide in a desperate bid to escape the trauma. She is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.
The police have taken cognizance of the complaint and initiated an investigation. Jariya police station in-charge Mayank Chandel confirmed that a report has been filed against the accused and action will be taken accordingly.
