Ara court awards death to man for killing trader
Ara: A court on Friday awarded death sentence to an accused for killing a 20-year-old trader in Bhojpur district about six years ago.
The court of 10th additional district and sessions judge, Devanand Mishra, awarded death to one Nityanand Singh in the murder case of trader Shriman Narayan Gupta (20), a resident of Nathmalpur village under the Barhara police station area of the Bhojpur district.
Public prosecutor (PP), Nageshwar Dubey, who argued the case from the prosecution side, said: "On Dec 29, 2019, Shriman of Nathmalpur village under the Barhara police station area, was shot at and grievously injured by some motorcycle-borne miscreants of the same village. Shriman was attacked when he was sitting in the cloth-cum-jewellery shop of his brother, Om Narayan Gupta, at Nathmalpur market on Dec 29, 2019."
Shriman succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital in Patna on the same day. The reason behind the killing was demand for extortion.
The PP added that following the incident, an FIR was lodged by Om Narayan against Nityanand Singh and others with the Barhara police station.
From the prosecution side seven witnesses were produced before the court.
"The court on Friday awarded the death sentence to Nityanand after finding him guilty of murder of Shriman," said the PP.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 6 lakh on the convicted person, added the PP.
