The distribution of LPG cylinders from the bottling plant of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) at Udayamperoor in Kochi was restored on Friday after the contract loading-unloading workers, who went on a flash strike on Thursday morning, called off their protest after the contractor agreed to resolve their demands.
The supply of LPG cylinders remains uninterrupted and secure across all regions. While there was a temporary disruption at the LPG bottling plant in Udayamperoor on March 6 due to a flash strike by a section of contract workers, the issue was swiftly addressed through reconciliation talks by the contractor with the contractual workforce, and normal operations were restored, according to a communication issued by the company on March 7.
Indian Oil remains committed to ensuring seamless LPG supplies through a robust supply chain network. With multiple bottling plants operational across the state and contingency measures in place, we were able to mitigate any potential impact and ensure that our customers received their LPG cylinders without any hurdle, it said.
The contract workers had protested against the delay in the release of salaries.
