‘Waste-free’ status for Maneed panchayat

The Hindu was feted for being part of the waste-free campaign undertaken by Maneed panchayat. The panchayat was accorded the ‘waste-free local body’ status on Friday. T.V. Anupama, Special Secretary of the Department of Local Self Government, declared the green status for the local body. She urged stakeholders to ensure sustainability of waste-free and green projects. District Collector N.S.K. Umesh felicitated organisations that adhered to the green protocol norms. Paul Varghese, president of Maneed grama panchayat, presided.
