Coal trader, driver injured in daylight shooting in Ranchi

Ranchi: A coal trader was shot in Ranchi's Bariatu Road in broad daylight on Friday, leaving the trader and his driver injured. Both, however, survived the attack.
The trader, identified as Bipin Mishra, a major coal transporter, was attacked by an unidentified assailant on Friday morning when he was out of his house.
Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta said the assailants have been identified, and police will soon nab them. "The trader got a death threat from an international number before the attack. Police have been tracing that number, and people behind that have been identified," the DGP added.
Bariatu police station in-charge Manoj Kumar said, "The incident took place at around 10.30-11 am on Friday, when his vehicle was taking a U-turn on the road. As the trader's car got stuck in a traffic jam, at that moment, the assailant fired, pointing at the car. The bullet injured the trader on his neck and on his driver's hand. The assailant's attack was retaliated by the trader's security guards before he escaped the scene."
Both survivors were admitted to a hospital in Ranchi after the attack.
When asked whether any lead was found in the investigation, Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, who is monitoring the investigation, told TOI, "It is not yet verified who has committed the crime, and police have been investigating it. Forensic teams and an anti-terrorist squad arrived at the scene after the incident to investigate. The assailant fired four rounds of bullets pointing to the car."
A criminal identified as Mayank Singh took to social media to claim the responsibility for the firing. "I take responsibility for the attack on Bipin Mishra in Ranchi Bariatu...Bipin Mishra survived, but my efforts will continue... All over Jharkhand, sub-contractor, transporter working for Mishra are warned to stop working for him. Otherwise, I'll shoot all of them one by one."
