Ruffians attack police team on night patrol in Ranip
Ahmedabad: A group of five people attacked a police team on night patrol near Balolnagar Crossroads in the Ranip area on Wednesday. The incident took place after the cops directed the men standing outside a pan shop to disperse since they were talking loudly and disturbing residents in the vicinity.
According to the complaint filed by head constable Udaybhan Laxmikant, a team of Ranip police was patrolling the area between 11pm and 5am when they saw a noisy group outside a pan shop near Nilkanth Mahadev Temple. The team asked them to leave and go home as they were disturbing others.
At the time, the men quietly left the spot but returned later in a white car without a registration plate. They got out of the car and one of them hit the windshield of the police vehicle with a knife. Before the cops could respond, the men got back into the car and drove away towards Balolnagar Bridge. According to the FIR filed with Ranip police, the group often gathers at the same pan shop and is known to be involved in serious offences in the past. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
