Excise officials seize fake liquor worth Rs 5 lakh
Hubballi: Dharwad Excise officials raided a farmhouse in Chabbi village and seized fake liquor worth Rs 5 lakh on Thursday. Excise deputy commissioner Ramesh Kumar H told TOI that they arrested two persons, Sandeep and Amrut, residents of Hubballi, and recovered fake labels and other materials from them. "We got a clue that fake liquor was being manufactured at a farmhouse located on Bammasamudra Road in Chabbi village. A team headed by excise SP Vijay Kumar Hiremath found that two youths were involved in manufacturing it. The liquor bottles found at the venue were not authenticated by the govt," he added. He also said, "Our officials went there in civil dress posing as customers, demanding liquor from Goa. First, they bought one box. Later, they demanded 20 more boxes and arrested them."
