Glada to decide on relief for villagers to be resettled for road repair work
Ludhiana: With several houses being in straight alignment of a 1.70km stretch from Malerkotla Road, Gill village to Sidhwan canal and Lohara Bridge — which make up the missing road link-II of an ongoing project— Glada has not been able to proceed with the construction of this part of the road to help ease the flow of traffic in the city.
A meeting has been scheduled on March 11 to discuss compensation for the area acquired by Gill gram panchayat and the assessment of the houses built on it. It has been called by Sandeep Kumar, chief administrator of Glada, with the district development and panchayat officer and the block development and panchayat officer-1. The meeting will also decide the necessary action as per law regarding the resettlement of the residents of these houses. Kumar has appealed to the affected people to cooperate with Glada to complete the construction of the missing road link.
Glada was constructing a 200ft missing link in Phullanwal, Dugri and Gill. For missing link-1 (Pakhowal Road to Urban Estate Phase-3, Dugri), 11 acres 4 kanals 10 marla area was acquired from village Phullanwal on August 24, 2005. For missing link-2 (Dhandran Road to Sidhwan Canal via Malerkotla Road), 74.52 acres was acquired on August 7, 2010, and 0.4356 acres on July 2, 2015.
