600kg ganja seized, 2 held in Bharatpur
Alwar: Police Thursday seized 600kg of ganja from a container and arrested two people at a checkpoint at Gahnauli, Bharatpur district. The value of the ganja is expected to be around Rs 1 crore.
The accused were transporting ganja from Odisha in a container. They were headed to Behror (Kotputli-Behror) to deliver it.
Bharatpur superintendent of police Mridul Kachhawa said that on March 5, the Gahnauli police were conducting a check on National Highway-123. During the operation, a closed-body container was spotted approaching from Dholpur. The police stopped the container. The driver attempted to breach the checkpoint and escape, but the police pursued and apprehended him, he said.
Upon questioning, the driver identified himself as Suwalal (36) and the helper as Nitesh (27), both residents of Kauthal, Bansur police station, Kotputli-Behror district. The container was secured at the back. After unlocking it, the police discovered bamboo inside, with white sacks placed underneath. Upon opening the sacks, they uncovered ganja. There were 140 sacks in the container. The sacks contained 300 plastic bags, each with 2 kg of ganja.
