Auto falls into gorge in Hailakandi, 5 injured

Silchar: Five persons were critically injured after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in lost control and fell into a gorge at Katlicherra in Hailakandi district on Thursday.
The group was on their way to a wedding reception when the accident took place.
According to reports, the accident took place on Thursday afternoon when the auto-rickshaw, which was on its way from Cheragi in Sribhumi district to Katlicherra, lost control in the Garodpunji area and fell into a deep gorge, leaving the five passengers injured.
The injured persons were identified as Aarati Roy (45), Biren Roy (55), Pinky Roy (34), Bidhan Roy (55) and Bulti Roy (8). Onlookers gathered at the spot, following which the injured persons were sent to a local hospital for treatment. Due to their critical condition, they were later shifted to S K Roy civil hospital in Hailakandi.
