Badlapur ‘encounter’: Stay on findings against 5 cops challenged in Bombay high court
Mumbai: Having faced flak from Bombay high court over the Thane sessions court staying crucial findings against five policemen by a magistrate's inquiry into Badlapur sexual assault accused Akshay Shinde's death, public prosecutor Hiten Venegavkar informed that the State has challenged it in the HC.
The matter was mentioned before Justice R N Laddha who posted the hearing after two weeks. On a revision application by the cops, on Feb 21 the additional sessions judge D R Deshpande on Feb 21, directed "the effect and operation of the findings, particularly in two concluding paragraphs, is kept in abeyance till the next date." HC questioned whether the State had informed the judge the matter was sub judice before HC.
In a related development, judge Deshpande also refused to continue the stay granted earlier.
