Jaipur: The Jaipur-based Achievers polo team once again made a clean sweep in the fourth edition of the Indian Polo Awards held recently here at the City Palace. For the fourth successive year, Achievers bagged the main awards -- best team, most valuable player, best pony and most promising player.
Achievers team, which is co-owned by Parul Rai and Vikram Rathore from Jaipur and is based at Mundota Fort Palace, was launched in 2012 and has ever since been winning the majority of the polo tournaments across India.
"Achievers team has the distinct record of winning The Indian Open Championship for the last seven years consecutively. Over the last more than a decade, this team has given the opportunity to many young talented Indian players a platform to excel in the sport by giving them horses to play and opportunity to play with leading stars of the world in the polo tournaments across India," Vikram Rathore told TOI.
Rathore, whose daughter Divyakriti brought laurels to the region by winning the gold medal in team event in Equestrian Dressage at the 2022 Asian Games held at Hangzhou, China, added that Achievers team has also did well in the ongoing Jaipur Polo Season and won some of the major titles.
"We are happy with our performance so far. The icing on the cake was dominating the Indian Polo Awards. We want to thank La Polo and the Indian Polo Association for acknowledging our efforts. We would like to continue our work sincerely for the benefit of polo in the region," said Rathore.
After holding the first edition at City Palace in 2021, the polo awards returned to the same place this year. The second and third editions were held in New Delhi (2023) and Mumbai (2024), respectively.
Achievers polo team won the awards in the following categories this year
