The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths on Tuesday arrested an autorickshaw driver Mohammed Abdul Jaleel, 32, of Kasaba Bengre, and seized 75 grams of synthetic narcotic drug MDMA worth ₹3.75 lakh from him.
In a statement, the police said Jaleel was getting MDMA from Bengaluru in buses. He was carrying MDMA in his autorickshaw and distributing it to students and other persons in the city.
The police have also seized a mobile phone and an autorickshaw from the accused. The police are searching for other persons allegedly associated with the arrested. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru North police station, the police said.
Absconder arrested
The CCB sleuths have arrested Muneer alias Anna, 48, of Kasba Bengre, who had failed to appear before jurisdictional court for the past one year in connection with four criminal cases wherein he is an accused.
The police said Muneer was arrested in cases related to theft, theft attempt, dacoity and cheating registered in Kavoor, Mangaluru Rural, Panambur, and Mangaluru South police stations. After obtaining bail, Muneer had failed to appear before the court. Therefore non-bailable warrant had been issued against him.
The CCB sleuths arrested Muneer on Tuesday and handed him over to Kavoor police for further action, the police said.
