Murder accused absconding for 34 years nabbed

The Avadi Tank Factory police have arrested a murder accused who had been absconding for 34 years.

In February 1991, Ranjith Singh Rana, 52, an HVF employee residing in the HVF Estate Quarters, was brutally murdered by his wife Madhumathi and her brother, Balu (alias) Balaji. The police arrested Madumathi on February 16, 1991, and remanded her to judicial custody. However, Balu was absconding.

Thirty four years later, he was nabbed in Virudhunagar district and brought to the Avadi Tank Factory police station for legal proceedings. He was remanded in judicial custody.
