The Industries department will organise a conclave with the aim of chalking out future development strategies for the State’s traditional industries of coir, handloom and cashew.
The aim of the conclave is to overcome the existing challenges in the three sectors and formulate projects aimed at innovation and modernisation. Further programmes will be formulated based on the recommendations of the expert committee appointed by the government for these sectors.
Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said that the conclave would be a crucial step towards the future development of these sectors.
After organising separate conclaves in three locations focussing on each sector, a joint conclave would be held in Alappuzha in April. In the first phase, coir conclave would be held in Alappuzha, cashew sector conclave in Kollam and the handloom conclave in Kannur. Experts, officials from all three sectors, major institutions, including the National Institute of Fashion Technology, industrialists, exporters, trade unions, successful entrepreneurs, research institutions, and representatives of marketing and online commerce companies will participate in the conclave.
