GU to launch dual degree courses from next academic year

Ahmedabad: Gujarat University decided to introduce 17 new courses under its dual degree programme starting from the next academic session. In a meeting held with the heads of departments (HODs) on Tuesday, it was confirmed that students currently enrolled in various programmes will also have the option to pursue diploma or certificate courses alongside their main degree.
Under the New Education Policy (NEP), the university aims to provide students with the opportunity to earn two degrees simultaneously. Previously, the university announced dual degree options in 20 courses. Today's meeting, led by the vice-chancellor, further reinforced the implementation of this initiative.
From the next academic session, students enrolling in different courses, such as BA, BCom, and others, can also opt for a dual degree. Those who complete a one-year course will receive a certificate, while a two-year course will grant them a diploma. The university already issued guidelines to department heads regarding admission procedures and formats.
With the introduction of dual degree programmes, students will have greater flexibility in choosing additional qualifications. Admissions for these courses will be available alongside regular enrolments in the upcoming academic year.
