Mob thrashes accused in Bijaynagarsexual abuse case in Ajmer court
Ajmer: In a dramatic turn of events at the Ajmer District and Sessions Court Monday, an angry mob attacked one of the accused in the Bijaynagar sexual abuse case, despite heavy police presence.
Former councillor Hakeem Qureshi, who was being produced before the court after his police remand ended, faced violent opposition from lawyers and onlookers who shouted slogans such as "hang him" before physically assaulting him.
Despite the presence of police, the accused was kicked and punched by the crowd, which also pushed and roughed up cops attempting to protect him. Though extra policemen had been deployed anticipating trouble, they struggled to protect the accused.
This marks the third such incident targeting the accused in the matter on the court premises, raising serious concerns about security and the rule of law.
