Technical glitch forces Singapore-bound IndiGo flight to return to Coimbatore after take off

A Singapore-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at the Coimbatore International Airport on Monday night, around an hour after its departure, due to a technical glitch, said official sources at the airport.

The flight departed Coimbatore at 8.15 p.m. The pilots detected a technical glitch in the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) of the aircraft shortly after take off. As an emergency landing situation emerged, the excess fuel had to be burnt off for safe landing, said the sources.

As per a flight tracking portal, the flight circled in the airspace over Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Pudukottai before returning to the airport for landing nearly an hour later.

Sources added that another aircraft operated by IndiGo, which came from Hyderabad, left for Singapore at 11.41 p.m.
