Ludhiana: A meeting of the District Bureau of Industry and Investment Promotion committee was held Tuesday to review cases for in-principle approval under the Right to Business Act, 2020.
In the meeting led by deputy commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, 12 incentive applications of different types were approved, which will benefit nine units. This includes regulatory clearances and fiscal incentives, such as electricity duty exemptions, CLU/EDC exemptions, and stamp duty exemptions for setting up or expanding industrial units in Ludhiana.
Jorwal announced a total of Rs 266.44 lakh in incentives has been approved for nine cases under Industrial and Business Development Policy, 2017. In addition, two cases were approved under the Right to Business Act. Units receiving in-principle approval can begin construction immediately but must obtain regular approvals within three-and-a-half years from the date of issuance of approvals.
Furthermore, one unit was granted an electricity duty exemption for 10 years under the Industrial and Business Development Policy (IBDP), 2022. CLU/EDC exemptions were approved for two projects under the same policy, amounting to Rs 19.44 lakh. SGST reimbursement has been approved for five units, totalling Rs 2.27 crore under the IBDP, 2017. Additionally, a freight subsidy of Rs 20 lakh was granted to one unit under the IBDP, 2022.
During the meeting, the review of the DBIIP was also conducted. Departments such as PPCB, labour, factories, and MC Ludhiana were directed to address any pending issues within allocated timeframes to facilitate the govt's vision of ease of doing business.
