Jaipur: Eighteen cities across the country, including Jaipur and Udaipur, will receive Rs 1,800 crore under CITIIS 2.0 of the Union govt to promote a circular economy to improve waste management, said Union minister for housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar at the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Forum meet in the Pink City on Monday.
The cities from Rajasthan were selected through a competition of 100 smart cities, and will receive Rs 100 crore each as part of the MoUs signed. The centre will provide financial and technical support to the selected cities to create integrated waste management architecture, the minister said.
Outlining the thrust areas of CITIIS 2.0, the flagship initiative for driving integrated waste management and climate action, Khattar said the funds would benefit 18 cities in 14 states and serve as lighthouse projects for other urban areas.
