Nature-themed goodies welcome MLAs in Assembly
Ranchi: The state assembly witnessed an innovative approach during the 2025-26 fiscal budget presentation on Monday, as eco-development committees from Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) prepared distinctive nature-themed welcome packages for all MLAs.
On Tuesday, PTR officials said that finance minister Radha Krishana Kishore initiated this thoughtful endeavour to promote wildlife conservation whilst supporting rural cottage industries in tribal areas.
According to PTR's deputy director P K Jena, village eco-development committees from the reserve created special welcome hampers. "The distinctive package featured wild Henar honey, demonstrating tribal-nature harmony, koyal cold pressed mustard oil and herbal dhup (essence sticks) created using local ingredients such as eucalyptus, neem, tulsi, camphor, and cow dung."
Jena said that the inclusion of a wildlife photo frame highlighted the state's highest policy-making body's dedication to wildlife preservation, particularly significant as forests constitute 30% of Jharkhand's territory.
"The package also contained educational comics about the Palamu fort, highlighting the 16th-century architectural masterpiece and the cultural legacy of the renowned Chero king Raja Medini Rai," he stated, whilst acknowledging the widespread appreciation for this wildlife conservation initiative.
