Over 34,000 students write Plus Two examinations across 128 centres in Coimbatore district

The Plus Two public examinations began in Coimbatore district on Monday, with 34,958 students from 363 government, aided, and private schools appearing for the exams.

According to the School Education Department, 336 students were absent. The language examination was conducted at 128 centres across the district. Hall tickets were issued to 35,294 students, and a 264-member flying squad was deployed to oversee the examinations and prevent malpractices.

Coimbatore Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said that all arrangements had been made. Seven collection centres were set up, and 290 scribes were assigned to assist differently-abled students in writing their exams.

Tiruppur

The public exam was conducted for 26,044 registered candidates (25,863 regular candidates and 181 private candidates) belonging to 217 schools at 92 centres in Tiruppur district.

There were 280 absentees from amongst regular candidates, and 23 among private candidates, official sources said.

Heads of 92 higher secondary schools functioned as chief superintendents. A total of 1,500 teachers were deployed as invigilators. District Collector T. Christuraj visited the Jaivabai Municipal Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Tiruppur city.

Flying squads formed with 150 teachers moved about to rule out copying and other malpractices.

The Nilgiris

In Nilgiris district, a total of 6,320 students appeared for the Plus Two public examination, including 2,925 male students and 3,395 female students.

The Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru visited the examination centres and said that the exams were being conducted across 41 centres, with 81 flying squad members deployed to monitor the process and prevent malpractices.

For the Plus One examinations, 6,568 students are slated to appear, including 3,079 male students and 3,489 female students. The exams are scheduled to begin on March 5. The Class 10 examinations are set to be conducted at 58 centres, with 3,340 male students and 3,519 female students appearing. These exams will commence on March 28.
